About Us

In 1995 the Northern Territory Joint Council of Professional Teachers' Association Incorporated was established.

In 2015 the Northern Territory Joint Council changed its name to the Professional Teachers’ Association of the Northern Territory. (the PTANT) The change in name better reflects the professional work of professional teaching associations and their volunteer members.

The PTANT nominates one person to the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory. The current nominee is committed to fulfilling the functions of the Board in the most effective and professional manner possible. 

PTANT currently has observer status on the Northern Territory Board of Studies. PTANT will be looking to work closely with the new Board when it comes into existence later in the year.
